I love creating art and exploring passion in the other interests in my life. Art enriches my enjoyment of all activities and helps open my perception of this amazing world. I believe all of us have the potential to enhance our lives by taking time to dig a little deeper into what excites us, and observation learned through drawing skills is an excellent way of finding those means. I enjoy helping others down their path by sharing what I have learned on mine. And so I teach. Please join me!

It is impossible for a living being to move like a hummingbird. Their wings become a blur that looks more like a power field activated at the touch of a button than anything biologically natural. A Sci-Fi hummingbird? How do you make something as stereotypical as a hummingbird look bad-ass?

All the hummingbird sculptures you see here have happened because of being inspired while working on a large realistic piece that is currently in progress. All the time spent in the studio researching and creating feeds a stream of ideas for future works. This time I followed ideas as they came and am enjoying the tie-ins!

Something Bigger

Limited Edition: 1 of 6

Great things were found in last October in Snowmass Village. Eight mastodons, four mammoths, a sloth, bison, iridescent beetles, and plants- a Colorado ice-age jackpot!

Inspired to create art by this whole-ecosystem discovery, I started my warm-up by sketching elephants at the zoo. The female Indians there are a wonderful analogy to the teenage female mammoth from the site. I loved to listen to the zoo animals breathe as they drank. The sound of air slowly and deliberately moving through long trunks made me aware of the sheer volume of air required to fill those large lungs.

I will donate a portion of the sale from each piece in this edition to the Snowmastodon Project at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
