Early Works at Auction |
Well I wasn't planning on sending out a newsletter this month, but I just found out that there's an opportunity that to acquire some of my early works that have come up for auction in the estate of a collector who has passed away. This is the first time my works have been at auction in the secondary market as far as I'm aware. The images on the website are photographs taken by the auction company and look washed out from the glare off the shrink wrap, but I haven’t seen them in person, so I can’t vouch for the condition. Two different auctions in the same estate, the print of Sue’s Parrot ends Friday and the original sculptures of The Look, On Defensive Guard, and Twist end Saturday. Pick-up is in person this Sunday in the mountains above Golden, Colorado. There are all manner of other cool things in the auction too; fossils, many natural history books, antique books and maps, artwork, and items collected from around the world. It's a fun browse even if you don't plan on bidding.
And while you're in Golden, come visit me at the Western Interior Paleontological Society's Founders Symposium this weekend. The art show and exhibits are free and open to the public during symposium hours: no registration required. If you love science like me, info on registration to attend the talks is below in the current event section of this newsletter. I'm also displaying at the Foothills Art Center in their Member's Show, come vote for peoples choice. All of that gives me one, two, three and FOUR locations in Golden.... but number four is for a different newsletter....

On our way back from our road trip to the Society of Animal Artists' exhibition in Sioux City, we stopped at several ash fall beds laid by the supervolcano that is currently under Yellowstone. This is Moropus, an extinct chalicothere. These strange beasts were related to horses, and very large! |
