Welcome to the Studio! |

After many months of moving, we are settling into our new mountain home up Coal Creek Canyon and looking forward to winding down the pace just in time for fall colors. It's a beautiful area with expansive views, in a bright, open house with a lot of personality. Soon we will fill it with our own history. The studio has been set up and is being quickly broken in (the photos below are from when it was fresh and new) and is a perfect artist's haven of (mostly) organized and easily accessible art supplies, space to spread out projects, a library of sketchbooks documenting my artistic journey, and surprise inspiration just outside my window. We'd like to welcome you into our special sanctuary. This weekend kicks off the Boulder Open Studios Tour where over 90 artists throughout Boulder County invite you into their spaces and creation process. My studio doors will be open October 4th - 5th and the 18th - 19th, the first and third weekends in October. There's no better way to experience the creation process than first hand directly in an artist's studio. Download the guidebook and map and attend the Preview Exhibition reception this Friday to discover new artists and locations to visit. If you're on this list, you're a friend. Come visit! |

The Open Studios Tour extends beyond gallery walls and allows you to step inside the private creative spaces of local artists. The Tour highlights the Boulder County arts community and provides a unique opportunity for direct interaction between the public and the artists. This is your chance to see their process, learn the stories behind the art, and get tips for making art of your own. |

The Society of Animal Artists is a premier organization dedicated to capturing the beauty, power, and spirit of the animal kingdom through fine art. Since its founding in 1960, SAA has showcased the world’s most accomplished painters and sculptors specializing in animal subjects. This stunning collection highlights a range of artistic styles and media, from hyper-realistic depictions of wildlife in their natural habitats to expressive interpretations that capture the essence of animal life. Featuring works from internationally recognized artists, this exhibition celebrates the deep connection between humans and the creatures we share the world with. |

October 10 - October 26 Opening Reception |
I had a studio space in the historic Main Street Creatives Gallery building that I used for oil painting for six months, until I moved to Coal Creek Canyon this year. The heart of the space is the community of artists and artist studios, classes, and workshops that the building houses, the support coming directly from the City of Brighton. This will be their second annual juried exhibition, opening the space up to the larger regional artist community. |

“This is more than just an art exhibition—it’s a reunion of kindred spirits who believe in the power of art to inspire, educate, and protect the natural world,” said MAC Center Director Kristine Lewis. This homecoming exhibit marks a special milestone: the Society’s first show at the venue since 2013, when the MAC Center operated as the Bennington Center for the Arts. The center hosted the SAA’s 34th Annual Exhibition in 1994, establishing a relationship that helped define its reputation for excellence in the arts. |

I'm partaking in the Strada Easel Challenge this month, which is hosted by the Strada Easel company and involves drawing/painting/etc from life every day for the month of September and posting on social media. I've been both drawing and painting, and grabbing my phone to work digitally if the inspiration strikes at an inopportune time. That means I have a lot of options to choose from for this section this month! Check out the full collection of work on my Instagram and Facebook pages. Muses have included flowers, skulls, insects, and learning how to handle transparent pigments in oil paint by way of a magenta clementine. |
